  2. EXTRA EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT! Hello and thank you for taking the time to come and check out the newsletter written by our very own Corporal Thomas Miller. Corporal Miller has spent a lot of time and effort working on this beautiful document detailing the events of our Bastogne deployment from beginning to end. It showcases promotions and awards that happened, events during operations, and the actions our unit took part in during the deployment. If you weren't there for these operations, here's your chance to get a detailed look! The newsletter also provides some background on other historical events, which were researched and implemented by Miller as well. Great job miller, can't wait to see the February Newsletter! 3. This is true, Tornis alternative is a lot more feasible but requires more work and management.
  4. After recently looking over some of my older files in which I created custom emblems for a regiment we role-played as prior to the 101st Airborne, I have found that it is quite easy to make custom helmets. Although not as prevalent in World War II, there are a few examples of custom scratch marks, chalk inscriptions, and sometimes sketches of imagery on M1/M2 helmets. Although scrim might get in the way of some of them, I can have regular net and keep it strictly for those who have earned the Good Conduct Award (Series II - 6 Months with no disciplinary action.) I feel some people here would love to have something personalized for them, and to show off their hard work and dedication to the community - and something that you can see in-game to strive for in the future. I'd like to hear what you all have to think about it, whether it be stipulations with historical context/realism, changes to requirements overall or other ideas such as the M1 Helmet that we can extrapolate and use for our own purposes in the unit. Below i've listed some basic requirements I thought is fair, to keep work load down and to make the helmets special. Suggested Requirements - Subject to Change Must have Good Conduct Award - Series II (6 Months No Disciplinary Infraction - Denoted by Clasp). No obscene or non-historical imagery/text. No imagery that obstructs view of regimental or billet stripes (NCO/Officer strips). No enlisted ranks, but officer ranks may be included on the front of the M2 helmet Medical insignias must not be obstructed. As I said prior it's subject to change, but I want to hear what you all think of this. It's a little extra work for Combat Imagery & Technical Engineers, but it means more points for them, and more cool things to look forward to for you guys. Let me know in the comments below! CONCEPT:

  10. I agree with some of Millers points regarding a reactionary enemy. I also feel having a branching story line (our successes/fails determine how operations will go) will greatly enhance the mission feel. If we fail to protect a supply line, we have less respawns overall - if we succeed we receive a replenishment of respawns/supplies. Simple things to encourage more care from everyone participating in the operations. That also would get more people to show up too, as it would force more varied objectives to be made from the mission maker, which is what people are most interested in. Here's a few ideas i've come up with that fit within our playstyle/mission set. Objectives & Consequences/Rewards Secure Supply's (Airdrop, intercept enemy provisions, escort convoy...) [Maybe give special equipment for succeeding?] If Fail - Less Respawns & no resupply If Succeed - Replenish Respawns & resupply Capture Intelligence (Disable Radio Tower, Intercept Messenger, Capture Officer) [Add a story element through role-play or creating the intelligence outside of game too.] If Fail - Enemy has a higher initiative and responds to movements quicker, more likely to attack areas we aren't focused on. If Succeed - Knowledge of Enemy Movements & More time to Plan (Capture officer scenario, enemy might have more vigor) Rescuing/Capturing Prisoners (Side objective based, maybe have it as a follow up to capturing an HQ or another important area) [Could be an asset too like a vehicle] If Fail - Enemy has more men and we don't get extra equipment. If Succeed - We have to move those prisoners back to base, but we earn extra equipment and the enemy is down on manpower. These are just a few that I see we don't normally use, but there are plenty more we can do. There's also subsets of each, it doesn't have to be plain and simple. Also, having limited respawns and first person to increase that pressure would be nice.
